Proofreader Recommendation - Peter Van Der Merwe
Peter Van Der Merwe is a freelance copy editor currently based in Florence. He was recommended by my best friend and her sister, so I was very keen to get in touch with him.
I found Peter very approachable. We conversed by email and arranged for him to proofread my short story, Lipstick and Knickers. He is also available to talk to clients using Skype.
For those of you familiar with the short story, the original unedited copy has been available for four weeks and has sold over 8,000 copies. However, to say thank you to all of the people who bought and supported the book, I have now paid for it to be proofread and a new edition is available.
Although Peter's original quote was at the higher end of the market, he was happy to negotiate a lower introductory fee. He is a very thorough worker, sometimes extending into light editing, so I really feel that I got a great service for the money. I have much more confidence in my short story as a consequence of Peter's input and have hopefully picked up a few tips about my common mistakes, which will aid me in the future.
His method of feedback - Word's revision mode, was perfect for my needs and very easy to follow.
Overall, Peter is a very talented editor well suited to proofreading jobs which require that extra touch.
